Jeffrey Fortis
Consultant, Small Business Owner, and C-Suite Executive in Sacramento, CA, United States
Jeff Fortis is an active investor, advisor-mentor, and business owner. He currently lives outside of Sacramento, California having grown up in an agricultural town in the surrounding community. At an early age, Jeff took an interest in technology and science and built atop that passion to become a discerning early-stage investor, contributing to the growth and scale of innovative companies in a broad range of industries. His entrepreneurial undertakings and angel investments have been focused on risk modeling, big data strategies, and machine learning. Beyond his technology investments, Jeff is an active advocate for the development of digital privacy and data security policy.
Earlier in his career, Jeff co-founded and served as the COO and Board Director of a successful fintech company. As a pioneer in both proprietary fintech software and digital education, Jeff and his co-founders led a team of developers and financial experts that built cutting-edge stock trading resources and training materials for retail investors around the globe.
A lifelong student of the stock market, Jeff learned the value of investment diversification early on. Prior to his exit from his fintech company, Jeff established substantive relationships with startup businesses and community leaders throughout Northern California.
He’s since served on boards of directors of numerous successful companies, been an avid mentor and equity advisor to early-stage technology leaders, and has personally invested in over 60 startups. Armed with a strong network of stakeholders from organizations like the Sacramento Angels and Entrepreneur’s Organization, and driven by a goal for sustained economic growth opportunities in the region, Jeff set out to do his part. Now, his investment portfolio is a more accurate representation of his investor profile.
Jeff Co-Founded the Woodland Technology Alliance in 2017, with other business leaders and city officials, to help support a technology community in his small hometown. Rural areas are often underserved and lack the resources, access, and education needed for competency or to be competitive in an increasingly digital world. Jeff has served on the Grand Jury as Foreperson Pro Tempore for the recent term, further tuning his civic focus.
He enjoys playing golf, traveling, attending concerts and music festivals, wine tasting in the Napa Valley, boating, and especially, hunting and spending time with his old dogs.
